When purchasing filament, choose reputable brands with a proven track record. Consistent filament diameter, high material purity, consistent batch quality, and moisture-resistant packaging can significantly reduce nozzle clogs, stringing, and color inconsistencies, improving print success rates.
Tip: For the best printing results, we recommend loading the i8 with four spools of the same filament type that use the same printing temperature. For more filament types and details, please refer to the i8 Filament Compatibility Guide.
Trim the filament tip so that it is cleanly cut and free of bends.
Check the channel numbers on the spool holder.
Place each spool on the corresponding holder, with the filament feeding in the direction shown.
Insert the filament into the corresponding PTFE tube and feed it through to the toolhead inlet. Once the indicator for that channel lights up, continue pushing gently until the filament stops advancing.
On the Filament page, tap the spool icon for the channel, then tap Edit.
Set the brand, material type, and color to match the filament you have installed, then tap OK to save. Complete this step before starting the loading procedure.
On the Spool Holder page, open the load/unload menu in the upper-right corner and select One-Tap Unload.
Wait for the unloading sequence to finish. The line between each affected spool icon and the toolhead icon disappears when unloading is complete for that channel.
Pull the filament out of the PTFE tubes, rewind it onto the spools, and remove the spools.
Release the motors. Open Control and tap the motor release button.
Cut the filament. Slowly move the toolhead along the X-axis to the far left until the component outlined in red extends. This cuts the filament in all four channels at once.
Reset the cutter. Slowly move the toolhead to the far right until the component retracts.
Remove the filament. Pull the filament out of each channel in turn and rewind it onto its spool.
If filament in a channel cannot be removed, go to Home > Control, switch to another channel position, and try again.
