Dear Otter Users,
To ensure the safe use of your device, we need to inform you of the potential risks associated with directly connecting the Otter Scanner to a smartphone via a Type-C cable, along with our solutions:
When using a Type-C cable to power and transfer data for the Otter Scanner via a smartphone (i.e., OTG mode):
1. Dual Workload Pressure
The smartphone must simultaneously handle power supply (5V/500-900mA, the maximum power supply capacity of most mainstream smartphones) and data transmission, exceeding normal operational limits.
2.High Power Consumption of the Scanner
Average Current Demand: 5V/990mA
Instantaneous Peak Current: 5V/2700mA (far exceeding the continuous power supply capacity of smartphones)
3.Long-Term Risks
Prolonged overload operation may cause:
① Accelerated aging of smartphone motherboard components
② Significant reduction in battery cycle lifespan
③ Overload risks in extreme scenarios (short circuits, overheating, or fire hazards)
Based on the above risk assessments:
1.App Update
We have disabled the direct smartphone connection feature in the latest app version to eliminate potential safety risks.
2.Alternative Solution
Please use the dedicated Scan Bridge accessory to ensure stable power supply and secure wireless scanning.
