This article explains how to back up or migrate the complete CrealityScan project files (including point clouds, meshes, textures, and all other associated data) to another device. This is different from the "Export Model" function, which only exports single‑format model files such as STL, OBJ, PLY, or ASC.
¶ 1. Locate the Project File Save Folder
Before you back up or migrate your project, you need to find where the project files are actually stored on your computer.
¶ Method 1: Direct Access from the Software Home Page
- On the software home page, locate the project you want to back up.
- Click the “···” icon in the upper‑right corner of the project card, and select “Open File Location”.
- The system will automatically open File Explorer and navigate to the folder containing that project.

¶ Method 2: Via the Default Save Path in Settings
- Click “Settings” in the upper‑right corner of the software home page.

- Find and copy the “Default Save Location” path.

- Paste it into the address bar of File Explorer, and press Enter. This will take you directly to the root directory of your project folder.

¶ 2. Back Up or Move Project Files
¶ Method 1: (Available on CrealityScan v4.3.1 and later)
Click the “···” icon in the upper‑right corner of the project card, and select “Copy”.

¶ Method 2:
Once you have located the project folder, you can:
- Copy the entire project folder to another location (e.g., external hard drive, USB drive, or network storage) as a backup;
- Cut/move the project folder to a different disk path (e.g., from the C drive to the D drive).
¶ 3. Import a Project to Another Device
After copying the backup project folder to the target computer, open CrealityScan on that computer, then click “Open” → “Open Project or Model” to load the project file.

⚠️ Version Compatibility Note:
Project files created with a newer version of the software cannot be opened or edited in an older version (e.g., a project scanned in version v4.3.0 cannot be opened in version v4.2.2 and below). If you need to move data between different software versions, it is recommended to use the “Export Model” function to save the model in a common format such as STL or OBJ, and then import it into the other device.
¶ 4. Change the Default Save Path
The software saves projects to the C drive by default. If your C drive has limited space, you can manually change the default save path:
- Click “Settings” in the upper‑right corner of the software home page.
- Locate the “Default Save Location” and change it to a new path where you want projects to be stored (e.g., the D drive or another partition).

Note: This change only affects new projects. Previously saved projects will remain in their original location and will not be moved automatically. To move older projects to the new path, please refer to Section 2 above to move them manually.
¶ 5. How to Restore a Project If It Disappears from the List
If you find that a project has disappeared from the project list on the software home page (for example, after you manually moved its folder), follow these steps to restore it:
- On the software home page, click “Open” → “Open Project or Model”.
- Browse to the folder containing your project file, select the project file (usually with a .obp extension), and open it.
- The project will reappear in the project list on the software home page.
